Here’s what to bring so you’re all set for your amateur radio license exam:
- 📄 Get your FCC FRN before exam day
- 💵 Bring $15 exam fee (cash preferred)
- 🆔 Bring a photo ID
- 📃 If upgrading: bring a copy of your current license

- Obtain a valid email address if you don’t already have one.
- Register with the FCC to get your FCC Registration Number (FRN).
- Study and take practice tests to prepare for taking the exam.
- Find a Volunteer Examiner (VE) Session.
- Take your test.
- After passing, pay the FCC $35 registration fee.
- Receive your license and callsign.
- Get on the air!
