Here’s what to bring so you’re all set for your amateur radio license exam:

  • 📄 Get your FCC FRN before exam day
  • 💵 Bring $15 exam fee (cash preferred)
  • 🆔 Bring a photo ID
  • 📃 If upgrading: bring a copy of your current license

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Obtain a valid email address if you don’t already have one.
  2. Register with the FCC to get your FCC Registration Number (FRN).
  3. Study and take practice tests to prepare for taking the exam.
  4. Find a Volunteer Examiner (VE) Session.
  5. Take your test.
  6. After passing, pay the FCC $35 registration fee.
  7. Receive your license and callsign.
  8. Get on the air!
